I’m a media scientist and entrepreneur. I’ve studied and applied media processes throughout my professional career. I’m also pursuing a PhD in media psychology focusing on the psychological dynamics of online, mobile, virtual and augmented reality environments. Specifically, I’m researching digital media’s ability to influence perception and decision making.
I’m a science geek with a creative eye. You can catch me writing fictional stories or photographing various subjects, but I’m also fascinated by virtual medicine, evolutionary psychology, archeology, plate tectonics, American revolutionary history, and astronomy (those big rocks floating above us are pretty darn interesting!) I balance my interests in logic and science with my passion for art, design and languages. My weaknesses are Doritos, pizzas and fries.
Because I like to be involved in social issues, I’m a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmys) where I’ve served on the academy’s diversity committee. In 2010 I was appointed to the Board of Directors of Youth Mentoring Connection, an organization that helps mentor at-risk youth. Additionally, I’m a member of the Society for Media Psychology and Technology, a division of the American Psychological Association.
